Our Review:
WILD Beef is one of the most protein-rich foods in our range and has an unusually transparent ingredient declaration.
A full 80% of the recipe comes from dehydrated animal ingredients, consisting of 76% beef, 3% beef liver and 1% whole egg. The beef itself is broken down further into 60% muscle meat and 16% carcass.
We particularly like the way WILD declares these percentages. The ingredients are weighed after dehydration and immediately before cold pressing, rather than quoting the percentage of fresh meat before its water content is removed. This gives owners a clearer picture of how much animal material is actually going into the finished dry food.
The remaining 20% consists of a fruit, vegetable and superfood blend, including 3% sunflower oil, 3% carrot, 3% sweet potato, 2.5% kelp, 2.5% spinach, 2% chia seeds, 1% pumpkin, 1% apple and 1% blackcurrant. A further botanical blend includes ingredients such as chicory root, ginger, turmeric, broccoli and green-lipped mussel.
Nutritionally, this is a concentrated food, providing an exceptional 56% protein, 14% fat and approximately 381 kcal per 100g. It also naturally provides 1,000 mg/kg glucosamine and 500 mg/kg chondroitin from cartilage.
